In part two of ‘Ask the Experts’, we’re talking about wedding parties. Who wears what? When do you need their measurements? Do you have boy’s tuxedos and suits? What about bigger gentlemen?

Q: Do all the men in my wedding party need to wear a tux or suit?

A: Traditionally, the Groom, Best Man, Groomsmen, Ushers, Fathers, and Ring Bearers wear a tuxedo/suit. Remember, Grandfathers look ‘dapper’ in tuxedos, too!

FYI: Not everyone in your wedding party needs to match, but, their looks should complement each other. Consider who will be in pictures together and make sure your group is coordinated appropriately.

Q: What kind of tuxedo should we wear?

A: What the groom and wedding party wear depends on the theme of the wedding, season, location, and most of all, personal preference. Traditionally, the groom will wear something slightly different than the rest of the groomsmen to set himself apart and to match the bride. The groomsmen usually wear vests, ties and pocket squares to match the bridesmaid gowns.

FYI: We also have a selection of suspenders and ties if you’d like a more casual look for the wedding or reception.

Q: What sizes do you carry for tuxedos?

A: Rental tuxedos are manufactured to fit a wide range of sizes. They are not manufactured like a custom fit suit. Most of our rental tuxedos are available in boy’s sizes 3-18, although we don’t carry toddler sizes, and men’s sizes from 34-64, with some styles up to a men’s size 76. Even though they aren’t a custom fit, many of our rental items are adjustable.

FYI: Our sales associates can help you with the tuxedo or suit styles that work best on all body types. DuBois carries slim fit, ultra-slim fit, and traditional fit in a variety of colors and sizes for your wedding party. Rest assured, we can fit you and your wedding party!

Q: When should attendants come in to be fit?

A: The sooner the better, although we do allow some flexibility with this. We request to have everyone’s measurements at least 6-8 weeks before, but no later than 2 weeks prior to the wedding. Remember, it only takes a few minutes to take measurements and sometimes have them try on a couple of items. If they’re out of town, they can get measured at their local tux shop or tailor. It’s easy to send in their measurements through our website! www.duboisformalwear.com/submit-measurements

FYI: We will be sending email reminders a few weeks before your wedding to let you know if we’re still missing measurements and to verify your style choices.
