- Go to www.duboisformalwear.com/submit-measurements to download our Printable Measurement form. Print this form or just use it as a reference for the measurements that are needed.
- Enlist the help of a friend or family member if possible.
- Use a measuring tape or a string and a ruler, if a measuring tape isn’t available.
- Don’t skip steps! They deserve your extra attention. Accurate measurements will provide a better fit.

Step One: HEIGHT & WEIGHT

Document their height and weight on your measurements form (or a regular piece of paper).

Step Two: SHIRT SLEEVE LENGTH

While facing their back, center the tape measure end at their spine at the bottom of their shirt collar.

With the arm hanging naturally down to their side, draw the tape over the top of the shoulder and make a straight line to the hand. Do not draw the tape tight.

Read the tape measure at the center of their hand, between the wrist and the base of the pinky finger. If the tape reads between inch marks, round up to the nearest whole inch. For men, this is typically between 31” to 39”

Step Three: NECK SIZE

Gently hand the tape to your other hand on the other side of their head and bring it around.

Ensure the tape is at the lowest exposed area of their neck and wrap gently, not snug. Keep one finger inside the tape.

Measure the neck size at the intersection. Round up to the nearest 1⁄2 inch.

Step Four: WAIST (HIPS)

Ask them to remove their wallet (if needed) and raise their arms. Gently hand the tape to your other hand on the other side of their body and bring it around.

Position the tape measure evenly around their hips at the widest part, and pull it snug.

Take the measurement on the side where the tape intersects. Subtract 6”. This is your waist measurement.

Step Five: OUTSEAM

Place the tape tab on the top edge of their side pant seam and hold it there firmly.

Pull up firmly on the waistband while stretching the tape to the bottom of their foot (to the floor) if they aren’t wearing shoes.

If they are wearing shoes, take the measurement at the heel where the sole meets the shoe. Round up to the nearest 1⁄2 inch. For men, this is typically between 37” to 45”

Step Six: CHEST

Ask them to raise their arms.

Gently hand the tape to your other hand on the other side of their body and bring it around.

Raise the tape to the largest point around their chest, and make sure it is even.

Ask them to lower their arms and relax.

Draw the tape snug. Take your measurement and round to the nearest inch. This is their chest measurement.

Step Seven: SUBMIT MEASUREMENTS
